9. You probably like to demand to have your own way and go your own direction but also when you have all the freedom you do not know which direction to go. There is confusion between freedom of direction and freedom from direction. In the end you have to take responsibility for your direction.
A fear of completion mixed with a fear of never arriving at the end leaves you in an intense state of double frustration, yet your destiny is to complete. When you complete the little things in life your destiny takes one step closer to you. There is a fear of not being able to endure life’s labors and yet you realize how you endure your fears.
There is the fear of mistakes or imperfection and a fear of imperfection offset by a fear of accepting the perfection of the imperfection. This must include the discovery of the perfection of fear. Then there is the fear of mystery and mystery of fear (its ambiguity and the ambiguous nature of your fear) and the fear of mastery and the mastery of fear. You also have a serene calmness wonderfully complemented by a fear of tyrannical impatience. With such a work before you how could you have any destiny other than to become a master? This, however, will not be achieved without devoted intention to breathe each breath one at a time.
You fear abstraction, which reveals that abstractions touch you for you are intuitively receptive to them. They are the essential but mysterious essences that form the basis for everything and are also the subtle qualities of life, which may scare you yet also inspire you. Your destiny offers an opportunity to give and receive the subtle touch that brings peace.
You may fear the experience of your own subtle nature that endures beyond death but this is indicative of the realization that such a quality exists. It is only a matter of when you will meet your destiny and become that which you most fear and yet that which you choose, and that is to arrive home and rest in perfect, enduring calm.
Guru Teg Bahadur realized this state of enduring calm that lay in his essence was the essence of all. From this most subtle yet solid base he was able to sacrifice his head for the freedom of all people to worship in their own way. He knew he was losing nothing because his basic nature could not be taken from him and nor can it be taken from anyone.
